Grand County police blotter, Aug. 22: Gas leak at water treatment facility; man melting glass bottles

TUESDAY, Aug. 22

Fire call — Authorities received a report at around 1 p.m. from the new Water Treatment Plant in Granby regarding a broken gas line. Xcel Energy was notified of the puncture in the two-inch plastic line and had it under control less than an hour later.

Suspicious incident — Local law enforcement received a report at around 3 p.m. of a dog unattended in a vehicle earlier in the morning along County Road 84. The reporting party indicated no windows were rolled down for the dog. Later, a male individual appeared at the scene, removed the dog from the vehicle, but had melted glass and glass bottles in the campsite. It seemed unusual to the reporting party, which indicated the man might be living at the site.
