Grand County police blotter, Feb. 15-16: Parking too close; stealing electricity

FRI., FEB. 15

6: 38 a.m. A power line was reported to be lying across the road on the 100-block of Fir Drive in Winter Park. Mountain Parks Electric removed the line from the road.

6: 09 p.m. A two-vehicle crash was reported near milepost 219 on Highway 40 in Granby. A female who was involved was taken to Middle Park Health-Granby and subsequently airlifted out of the county. The reporting party said the crash was possibly caused by road rage. Both the east and westbound lanes were shut down.



6: 46 p.m. A home owner on the 200-block of Cozens Point in Fraser said they arrived to their residence to find someone had broken into their garage and were using it as a ski shop. It was found to be a misunderstanding on behalf of Airbnb who made a mistake in an email to the renters, not clarifying what the garage was for. The renters tried a code on the garage door and it worked. The reporting party admitted it was a mistake and did not want to pursue charges.

SAT., FEB. 16



1:28 p.m. A party on the 100-block of Mountain Avenue in Grand Lake reported a noise complaint of snowmobiles passing by their home. The party said snowmobiles were driving too fast and revving engines caused excessive noise. They understood that it would be a difficult complaint to enforce. A deputy would be assigned to contact rental companies with request that they educate customers about town policy concerning snowmobiles and keeping the RPMs down while they’re in town.

1:53 p.m. Three cars were involved in a crash on Highway 40 in front of the Vintage Hotel in Winter Park. No injuries were reported. The westbound lane and turn lane were closed for a short time.

7:06 p.m. A party on the 200-block of County Road 6482 in Grand Lake reported that they saw on a camera an electric cord going to a home a man is living in and stealing electricity. The man was found to have a statewide warrant.

9: 47 p.m. A physical dispute broke out between roommates on the 400-block of Muse Drive in Fraser. The reporting party came home and was confronted by their roommate who allegedly attempted to strangle the reporting party, pushed him out the house and began to throw his things outside. The suspect was reportedly intoxicated.

9: 52 p.m. A roommate was allegedly assaulted at residence on the 200-block of Carriage Road in Fraser. The person was hit in the head. Alcohol was involved. It was reportedly a dispute over parking too close. One person was taken into custody.
