Grand County police blotter, Jan. 25-29: Jumping in front of traffic; thefts at Winter Park Resort
FRI., JAN. 25
2:28 p.m. Report of stolen wallet from a Subaru Outback in the north bench lot, lower level, at Winter Park Resort.
2:30 p.m. Report of purse stolen from a Honda Pilot in the north bench lot, lower level, at Winter Park Resort.
SAT., JAN. 26
12:34 a.m. Male running on Highway 40, almost hit by vehicle in front of Ullrs Tavern in Winter Park. Reportedly jumping in front of traffic. Authorities made contact with the man at a nearby bus stop and he was advised to stay off the highway. But the man returned to the road. He was then given a courtesy ride and dropped off with a sober party.
2:02 p.m. Subjects walked out onto a lake near Winter Park. They didn’t know the name of the lake. The subjects told authorities the ice was not strong enough, that their feet were wet and did not think they could get back to the trail. The call was dropped and went to voicemail upon callback. The subjects were unable to be located after a check of ponds in the area.
4:28 p.m. Multiple vehicles blocking the road and snow removal along County Road 72 around the Fraser Tubing Hill. An official with the tubing hill told the reporting party, an official with Grand County Road and Bridge, that his parking lot is not big enough to handle weekend guests. He said he would not turn away customers no matter how many have to park on the road or how congested the roads gets. He said he would pay any fines, parking tickets or tow bills. Reporting party said it’s an ongoing problem and a hazard. They will look into putting up no-parking signs and start documenting with photographs parking problems as they observe them.
SUN., JAN. 27
8:05 a.m. Three-vehicle crash in front of Safeway in Fraser. An elderly man was bleeding from his face.
10:15 a.m. A traffic light was short cycling on Highway 40 at the intersection with County Road 804 causing a back-up to Tabernash. State patrol notified CDOT for a light technician.
TUES., JAN. 29
7:44 a.m. A husky-type dog was spotted chasing cows near milepost 216 on Highway 40, reported by a passerby. Authorities were unable to locate the dog.
