Grand County quilt guild wraps more than 100 veterans in Quilts of Valor
Grand County’s Peaks n’ Pines Quilt Guild has been a member of the international nonprofit Quilts of Valor Foundation since 2019. In 2023, the quilt guild announced that it wrapped 101 quilts around veterans since joining the foundation.
The foundation’s mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts.
Local quilters are welcome to volunteer to help make the quilts. Anyone who is interested in volunteering should contact the Peaks n’ Pines Quilt Guild or attend its monthly meetings, which are held at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at St. John Episcopal Church in Granby.
Veterans who are full- or part-time residents of Grand County are eligible to be nominated to receive a Quilt of Valor from Peaks n’ Pines. If you know someone who you think is deserving of nomination, contact Quilt of Valor group leader Lois Pratt at 970-509-0769. For more information on the quilt guild, visit PeaksNPinesQuiltGuild.org.
