Grand County residents will have to pay to use Park ‘n Ride in the future

To the Editor:

Are you a Grand County resident who parks at the Stapleton Park n’ Ride in Denver? RTD, as of Feb. 2, 2009, will make it very difficult for travelers and/or second-home owners to park at the lot. The cost is $2 per day and the maximum stay is 30 days. Go to the Web site for more details.

I urge you to write Mr. Cal Marsella, General Manager, RTD, 1600 Blake Street, Denver, Colorado 80202, before Feb. 2, to express your opinion regarding this.

Please let him know that the Parking Management Program for this particular park n’ ride does not make sense for travelers who take vacations longer than 30 days or use the lot as second-home owners. I understand that he does not want to make any exception for this lot but I am going to urge him to do so.

RTD has said we should find other options but I am not sure what those would be. Home James runs a limited service, especially in the off season, and friends’ cars have been broken into at motel lots. Let’s take some action on this. Thank you.
