Grand County support for ‘Big Hearts Giving for Little Hearts’ appreciated
To the Editor:Pregnancy Resource Connection (PRC) recently hosted a Valentine’s Dinner Dance. A Celebration of Life, “Big Hearts Giving for Little Hearts,” was well attended by more than 200 friends and supporters from all comers of Grand County. PRC Valentine Banquet & Fundraiser took place Friday, February 13, at the East Grand Middle School, Granby.A fun time was had by all in attendance. “Just marvelous to look across the room and see people engaged in a buzz of conversations,” one volunteer reported. The evening included a catered dinner by Regina Quinn of High Mountain Catering, served by the WPCC youth group Sarah Beckerle, Tor Brown, Elise Matson, Jeralayn McWhorter, Olivia Miller and Seth Toller. Dancing was accompanied by the music of Benny & the Jeff local music talents who come together to entertain and amuse.Love was in the air as Dr. Jeff Lipke, Chad Warren, Wendal Webb, Jeff Rondeau, and Brad Benson performed various love songs. Performing with the group was Tarish Cessna, singing a solo, “My Valentine” and Tracy Trostel / Chad Warren performing a duet, “When I Said I Do.” AIM, Action in Ministry, a local youth group Caleb Etaugh, Cody Riley, Jacob Magee, Joshua Eyers and Katelyn Swope entertained with colorful flags dancing to music as well as performing a mime to the music of “Blue Eyes Like Janey.” As a hush fell over the crowd, all were moved by the words and the message of the song presented through these talented artist.In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, a “Newlywed game,” hosted by PRC President Steve McKenzie, kept us laughing and secretly participating as couples at each table. In a close competition, filled with laughter and some good-humored sparring among the brave contestants, Brent and SarahChristian, representing Hot Sulphur Springs Community Church, took home the trophy and tiara. Other participants included: Jack and Neddie Dugwyler (WPCC), Bill and Melody Blake (GRAG), Mike & Holly Blasi (SCC), Brent & Sarah Christian (HSSCC), Dan & Charlene Canaday (KCC), Dan & Sabrina Machiniak (OLS)A Word from June Matson, PRC Executive Director who has served women in our community since 1993. Junes daughter read a testimony from her birth mother who had hoped to attend but was unable to.We at PRC would like to THANK everyone who participated in bringing this celebration to life. We wish to thank everyone who has supported and provided for all the needs of not only this fun event but also to those who support the work of the ministry throughout the year.Needs: We have a need for volunteers to work with clients and workers for the completion of the new “Community Room.”Other opportunities to look forward to this calendar year include house parties and the opening of an office in Kremmling. Please mark your calendars for next year and celebrate Valentines Day with a night out with that special someone or friends and family.
