Grand County updates on County Road 804
The Grand County BOCC has decided to split a cost of $3,769 with Everist Materials for asphalt repair on County Road 804 in Fraser. CR 804, also known as Meadow Ridge Road, runs behind Safeway and accesses a residential area. The cost is a remaining balance from the project that was completed in 2015.
The scope of the $1.5 million project was to be carried out in three phases including the replacement of an 8-inch potable water main line, storm sewer system improvements and the reconstruction of the failing pavement from the intersection of US Highway 40 and CR 804 to the top at Cranmer Ave. The project was supposed to be completed in October of 2015, but was not completed until November.
Initially, Everist proposed that they would pay for all the professional services they needed to complete, but that was it. They felt all other services regarding the final asphalt lift, punch lists, project payment, and closeout should not be their responsibility. This arrangement would leave Everist paying $7,761 and the county paying $3,769. Bowman Consulting proposed that there would likely be no additional cost to the county if the project had been completed on time. It was not completed until almost four weeks after the original deadline. In order to move forward with completion of the repairs that still need to be done, Everist and the BOCC agreed to split the cost ($3,769) at the July 12 meeting in Hot Sulphur. Everist also agreed to a three-year warranty on the project.
