Grand County voters, do your homework before casting ballots

To the Editor:

With Election Day here, it is especially important that voters be well prepared before they vote. Going to the polls today, voters will find a long complicated ballot. I want to encourage all voters to get as much information as possible on these very important issues beyond the ads on TV.

The Blue Book, which everyone received in the mail, contains an in-depth description of each measure. Be sure not to forget to look at the information on the judges standing for retention, which is at the end of the book.

In addition, League of Women Voters of Colorado Education Fund publishes a booklet detailing the statewide ballot issues. Included are pros and cons for each issue as well as the history of the amendment and a brief overview. They can be obtained from the libraries or at the county building. It may also be viewed online at http://www.lwvcolorado.org/. Also on the Web site is a section in which candidates have submitted information about themselves and answered questions pertinent to the office they are seeking.

Be an informed voter in this very important election.
