Each year, thru-hikers traveling along the Continental Divide Trail find themselves in Grand Lake and take the opportunity to rest or resupply before continuing their journey. And some of them might want to go for a bike ride.
The town of Grand Lake allows hikers to camp overnight at the Grand Lake Center for a small fee. Since these people are traveling by foot, the Grand Lake Center is collecting bicycles to lend to hikers that camp at the center.
As an official gateway community for the trail, the town of Grand Lake is considered hiker friendly by the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, a nonprofit organization that works to protect, promote and complete the trail.
The center is currently collecting good condition bikes to lend to hikers and people with spare bikes can bring them directly to the center.
