Grand Lake Chamber launches executive director search

GRAND LAKE – Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Jenkins

turned in her resignation on Jan. 21 to return to work at the Jenkins family

business The Gateway Inn, Grand Lake.

Jenkins took the helm of the chamber at one of the organizations most

tumultuous times, when it was discovered the former executive director was

charged with and pled guilty to embezzling payroll funds and fixing QuickBooks files. That was in 2010, and Jenkins made good on her commitment to give the chamber two years on the

job, she said, saying she couldnt at the time promise longer than two

“I feel comfortable knowing the next director is coming in to a more stable

chamber,” she said on Tuesday. “Im very happy about that.”

Jenkins hopes the selection committee chooses a “forward thinker to take the

chamber to the next level.” A selection committee has been formed made up of

chamber board members, town officials and Grand County Tourism Board

members. Resumes for the job are due to the chamber the end of today,

Wednesday, Feb. 6. As of Tuesday, the chamber had received 11 resumes thus

far. Next week the committee plans to set interviews, with a tentative date

to make an offer Feb. 22.

Jenkins plans to stay on the board in an advisory roll until the elections

in September, she said. Her last day of work as executive director is March
