The field has narrowed and the finalists have been winnowed down to half a dozen in the search for a new Grand Lake Town Manager.

“We will probably be making some decisions in the next couple of weeks,” said Grand Lake Mayor Judy Burke on Thursday.

Burke and other members of the Grand Lake Town Hiring Committee have been engaged in the process of hiring a new town manager to replace David Hook.

Mayor Burke said the town received a total of 63 applications for the position. From that group the Hiring Committee created a short list of six candidates. Those six candidates performed interviews with the committee on Wednesday.

The Hiring Committee has made no decision yet.

All six of the finalist applicants are from Colorado. Grand Lake Town Clerk Rhonda Kolinske explained this was merely a coincidence and that being from Colorado was not among the criteria used to choose the finalists.

Current Town Manager David Hook announced his desire to not renew his contract to the Grand Lake Board of Trustees in August. His contract expires in February 2015.
