Grand Lake needs to find a better way to deal with trash issue

To the Editor:

As a 20 year second-home owner I was shocked to see in the Sky-Hi Daily News (Feb. 19) “Talking Trash” article that there is a new law apparently requiring payment of all home owners in town (Grand Lake) for trash hauling.

My family and I have always hauled our trash back to Littleton, so naturally I’ve not experienced a problem. My suggestion perhaps is for large lockable/wildlife proof containers that a key or code may be purchased for those who want to dump their trash in town.

Even a pay-as-you-dump system wouldn’t be too hard or costly to set up. I’d be happy to purchase a hauling service if I lived in town and generated enough trash to be dumped or hauled away. Another solution needs to be found.
