Grand Lake prohibits pot centers

GRAND LAKE – Grand Lake joined Winter Park and Kremmling on Monday night in prohibiting medical marijuana centers in town.

On a motion crafted by Trustee Benton Johnson and seconded by Trustee Tom Weydert, trustees voted unanimously to adopt a resolution concerning grow centers, retail pot dispensaries and the sale of marijuana-infused foods. None will be allowed commercially in the town.

No one from the public participated in the public hearing about the issue.

The vote canceled the town’s option to put the question to a vote in the November general election.

GRAND LAKE – The Town of Grand Lake has a vacancy on its board.

The elected write-in candidate from the April election, David Gibbons, resigned on July 29.

His reason behind the resignation, according to Town Manager Shane Hale, can be summed up as “the job wasn’t what he thought it was going to be.”

The town board now has 60 days to fill the vacancy before it is forced to hold a special election.
