Grand Lake structure fire smoke seen from Granby

structure caught fire Friday afternoon near Grand Lake with smoke visible as far as Granby.

Lt. Dan Mayer of the Grand County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the smoke was not from a wildfire but a home that caught fire on County Road 444.

The fire was prevented from reaching the nearby trees, originating in a camper in front of the home, according to Mayer, who added that crews are close to having the fire put out.

All individuals and pets that were in the home  safely exited, Mayer said.
