Grand Lake Youth Theatre program takes the stage this weekend
Forty Grand County stars, 8 to 10 years of age, will shine on stage this Saturday and Sunday as Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre’s 2009 Youth Theatre Programs begins. The first program, the Youth Theatre Workshop, will be a cabaret style show that highlights two weeks of training, rehearsing and theatre games. This workshop is geared toward introducing and practicing the basics of theatre performance and offer age appropriate vocal, acting and dance coaching. Broadway song, dance, lights and music will fill this workshop and spark an interest in the arts for a lifetime. RMRT Program Administrator Sally Scott exclaims, “I’ve put together some of the best staff ever and I know the kids are going to blow everyone away. Please, show your support to these kids and come see how wonderful they are.” Participants in the Youth Theatre Workshop include Jayden Bergen, Sebastian Boch, Skyler Carey, Nellie Clancy, Mackenzie Deplata, Torryn Elliott, Katie Gardner, Hamilton Gray, Makenna Green, Quentin Heuvel, Shayna Hickox, Tyler Humble, Samantha Kigin, Aubrey Kretz, Ryan Lane, Jason Langlois, Kiana Ledin, Cassie Lehman, Grace Little, Theo Loo, Patrick Magee, Vincent Magee, BriAnne Marr, Isaac Matson, James Matson, Cassidy Mays, Kylie McBride, Jesse McClain, Nicole Mitchell, Genevieve Neeson, Robin Peterson, Rachel Sanderson, Joy Sealy, Skylar Sealy, Brooke Stacy, Taylor Stacy, Heather Stevens, Riley Sedlar, Sydney Tarr and Hana Zielke.RMRT’s Youth Program is extremely lucky to have a past member return to Grand Lake this summer as director of the YTW. Clare Arena, a seven-year RMRT company member remembered for such roles as Dolly in “Hello Dolly” and Annie Oakley in “Annie Get Your Gun,” now leads the program staff. Additional staff includes, Anna Danielson – Assistant Director, Mark Kuroski – Musical Director & Accompanist, Christina Myers – Choreographer and Sarah Anderson – Youth Theatre Staff. The Youth Theatre Programs would like to thank its official sponsors: White Fence Farm, The Bear’s Den, High Plains Pediatric Therapy, The Grand Foundation, Mountain Park Electric, Independent Sports Club and Wells Fargo Bank. The 40 young performers will dazzle audiences on Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m. and twice on Sunday, July 19, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The show will include selections from well-known Broadway classics such as “The Music Man,” “Mary Poppins” and “The Jungle Book.” “These kids have enough star power and energy, they can light up the entire Town of Grand Lake for two years,” said Director Clare Arena. “It’s truly astonishing and magical.” For tickets, call the RMRT Box Office at (970) 627-3421.
