Grand Park wastes energy by leaving lights on

To the Editor:

Recently, I was appalled to learn something I had not heard about Grand Park. It was brought to my attention by a close friend that the houses that have been built are mostly uninhabited, and on top of that, the lights are left on in these vacant houses for a good part of the night.

My friend and I then drove around the houses past midnight, and saw for ourselves that the Christmas lights were on in every uninhabited house. Do the developers think that us ‘mountain folk’ will believe there are people living there because of those lights?

Frankly, wasting that much electricity in a time of our lives when we need to conserve it is absurd. I don’t know if many people are aware of this misuse of energy, but some light should be shed on it.

Many of us didn’t want that development there in the first place, as we have seen exhibited with the vandalism on the signs. But knowing they are willing to leave the lights on past midnight every night gives us more reason to despise the establishment.

If there’s anything that can be done to stop this, please make the effort.
