Group is trying to save Fraser Rec District taxpayers money
January 20, 2009
To the Editor:
I have to admit ” sometimes I wonder why I am working to PRESERVE your tax dollars. I hear uneducated, un-researched, off-the-cuff remarks from Johnny-come-latelys, gutless e-mail responses, emotional outbursts and personal attacks in public meetings (the rules of open forum were changed that day). On top of that, the group that supports the existing (Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District) board, is trying to invalidate an under-funded, grass roots organization to avoid the main issue. That should tell the intellectuals something.
The 30-somethings, with their 2.2 children and 1.4 dogs, weren’t here through the bond default on the Winter Park parking structure or the bond default on the water works for Pole Creek Valley, which left the district members with bills amounting to thousands of dollars per person. I do not want to pay more than I already am.
I have to wonder, because maybe the supporters of the existing board deserve what would happen if we went away; we could go away and let the bondholders sue us all or let the board members’ personal liability insurance pay for it. Yeah ” that’s it.
I will say it again; we are NOT going to disrupt, in any way, the construction of the rec center. The existing board refuses to acknowledge the fact that they have put the bond at risk. Replace the board with people that will protect your money.
