Growing up in Grand County: A poem
Sky-Hi Teen Staff
A movie theater stands thirty minutes into the distance
Venture on a Saturday night and you may find a coincidence
That neighbors, friends, coworkers, and your bank teller
Picked that night to leisure into the stellar
Basement claiming one movie screen
Playing school sports does not bring the stress
Of being cut from the team because some consider you less
The Metro League is what we are in
But not for long because Middle Park would like to see a win
In the sports that I play
The kid that spilled his milk on your noodle art in first grade
Told you in the fifth during the game of Discovery to trade
In middle school he was the class clown
A few years later you begin to frown
Not because of the cap and gown
But because the person on your right spilled his milk on your noodle art in the first grade
Winter averages seven months with plenty of time to ski
But I don’t
I snowboard on Fridays free
Cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents surround my home sweet home
Adding warmth and beauty to the landscape dome
Friends are ten minutes away to my right and to my left
Grand County is the roots I will never forget
