Heavy snowfall in Granby could activate an emergency snow route. What does that mean?
Granby is receiving a significant amount of snow from a winter storm primarily affecting the mountains. As a result, difficult travel conditions and even impassible roads are expected.
The Granby Police Department released a statement reminding residents of an ordinance that was passed earlier this year. Until May 1, parking on town streets between 2-7 a.m. is not permitted to allow room for town plowing operations.
Earlier this year, the town developed an emergency snow route to allow plowing operations and emergency vehicle passage along outlined roads.
In the event of significant snowfall, the town manager will activate the emergency snow routes in town, which will require residents living on those roads to move vehicles. Any vehicles left on the designated emergency snow route will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Additional updates will be released on the Granby Police Department’s Facebook page and other social media outlets. Anyone with questions about the emergency snow route should reach out to the Granby Police Department at 970-887-3007.
