Hickenlooper asks for help transforming Colorado

DENVER (AP) – Gov. John Hickenlooper is asking everyone in Colorado to help transform the state.

During his first state of the state speech Thursday, Hickenlooper said he considered every Coloradan a member of his administration.

His call for a non-partisan approach to improving the state drew a long standing ovation from state lawmakers assembled in the House of Representatives to listen to the speech.

Hickenlooper urged lawmakers to consider the regulatory impact of any laws they pass and said he was consolidating some executive-level jobs, helping the state save money.

He said Colorado would be best served if lawmakers created competitive congressional districts, as opposed to districts seen as a sure win for either party.
