High-altitude gardening classes offered in Granby

Grand County Community Gardens |
The CSU Extension office and the Grand County Community Gardens are hosting high altitude gardening classes from 1-4 p.m., on May 3-4, at the Mountain Parks Electric Community Room. Master Gardeners Melinda McWilliams and Cathleen Brown will focus on growing vegetables in our high, arid climate.
Everyone is invited. There is no charge. Topics to be covered on Saturday are soils, amendments and fertilizers, what can we grow, and seed and plant selection. On Sunday the topics will be garden design and layout, companion planting, proper watering and feeding and season extension.
Grand County Community Gardens have four locations in Grand County. They are in Kremmling, Hot Sulphur Springs , Granby, and Fraser. Each of these sites provide raised beds with good soil, daily watering , and fencing to keep the critters out. Beds are currently available at each site. Check the website for more information and applications at grandcommunitygardens.org.
