Hilltop boat ramp opens temporarily
May 28, 2009
The Hilltop boat ramp ” predominantly closed for the season ” is scheduled to be open temporarily during the next two Saturdays, May 30 and June 6.
Opening this particular ramp for those two days is intended to accommodate Grand Lake boat owners who aim to launch for the season, according to Tyler Baskefield of the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
The ramp will open for launching only (no take-outs) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on those two Saturdays.
Unlike the Grand Lake, Greenridge, Stillwater and Sunset boat ramps in the Three Lakes Area, Hilltop will not have boat inspections during this temporary opening, but will have DOW personnel checking boats for green seals ” proof boats have undergone inspections.
The green seals will be needed in order to launch at the Hilltop ramp, Baskefield said.
Commenting on the Memorial Day weekend with a new program of boat inspections across the state in the wake of discovering nuisance mussels in a few Colorado lakes, Baskefield said overall, “people have been cooperative and helpful.”
Opening Hilltop temporarily is a courtesy shared by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the Town of Grand Lake and the DOW.
