Hot Sulphur Days kicks off Friday with carnival and auction
On Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12, Hot Sulphur Springs will hold its 46th annual Hot Sulphur Days.Events kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday at Town Hall, with a silent auction and carnival. In addition, there will be a pie baking contest (all contestants enter at 6 p.m.), a pie sale, and the crowning of the Hot Sulphur Days queen and attendant. Live music by Badwater starts at 8 p.m.Saturday’s events begin at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the fire station. There will be a variety of games to watch and play, including T-ball, frisbee golf, horseshoes, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and duck racing on the Colorado River, as well as special games for the kids.Music will be performed by Glen Tompkins, Simon Nicol and Noah Ralph, and end with Badwater after the fireworks. Highlights will include the Texas Charlie Shootout at 12 p.m. and the parade, which starts at Pioneer Park, also beginning at 12 p.m. A barbeque catered by Amber Flames BBQ will follow at 12:30 p.m. Activities will culminate with fireworks, starting at dusk.At 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, the town will continue the Hot Sulphur Days fun in Town Park by hosting a community pot luck, followed by the “Hi Ho vs. Lo Ho” softball game at 1 p.m. The Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce will provide hot dogs and beverages, and asks that everyone bring a side dish or dessert to share.Hot Sulphur Days is still open for vendors.
