HSS Winter Sports Club wins Top of the Hill Award
Hot Sulphur Springs Winter Sports Club has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Top of the Hill Award for the club’s contributions to the development of skiing in Colorado.
The award will be presented during the annual Hall of Fame Induction Gala on Saturday, October 1, at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa.
Other Hall of Fame recipients include Vail’s Ann Eggers (Lifetime Achievement Award); U.S. Ski Teamstar Lindsey Vonn (Competitor of the Year Awards); University of Denver’s Jamie Stanton (Adaptive Athlete of the Year Award) and Collegiate Skiers of the Year Kristine Haugen (University of Denver) and Mads Støm (University of Colorado).
Each year, the event honors individuals and organizations that have played significant roles in the development and promotion of skiing and snowboarding throughout the state of Colorado.

The 2016 Hall of Fame class will feature six individuals, including U.S. Nordic Combined athlete and six-time Olympian Todd Lodwick of Steamboat Springs, 10th Mountain Division veteran and Silver Star winner Hugh Evans of Boulder, former Ski & Snowboard Club Vail Executive Director Aldo Radamus and Steamboat Springs’ Olympic and X Games snowboarding medalist Shannon Dunn-Downing.
The late Bob Craig, renowned alpinist, director of the Aspen Institute and founder of the Keystone Center; and Charles Smith, a true pioneer in engaging Colorado’s minority ski community, will be inducted to the Hall of Fame as 2016 Pioneer selections.
“The Hall of Fame Gala is a wonderful evening that celebrates the lifetime achievements of some of the most influential people in our sport,” added Tjossem. “Tickets are going fast so I would advise making your plans now.”
The Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame is managed by the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum. Located atop the Vail Village Parking Structure, the Museum is a treasure trove of ski history and heritage, with its six themed galleries displaying artifacts, narratives and film documentaries that entertain and educate visitors of all ages.
