Hunter Carey of Winter Park wins silver at 2020 Youth Olympics in Switzerland

Representing Team USA at the 2020 Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland, Hunter Carey of Winter Park won silver in the men’s freeski halfpipe event on Tuesday.
Carey was one of two athletes from Winter Park selected to represent Team USA in the games. The other selection, Svea Irving, couldn’t compete after suffering an ACL injury earlier in the season.
On Tuesday, Carey finished behind Andrew Longino of Canada and ahead of Luca Harrington of New Zealand, who took bronze.
According a recap provided by Team USA, Carey and his teammate, Connor Ladd, competed in the finals after securing their spot following two qualification runs.
Carey opened the finals with a powerful run for 84 points, putting him in second place.
Then he improved upon his score in the second run with 86 points to hold silver throughout the third run. Ladd finished fifth with a score of 73.33.
