Construction to make water line and road surface improvements along County Road 804 in Fraser has begun.

Phase one of the project entails replacing an existing water line that runs from a tank near the intersection of Cranmer Avenue and CR 804 to the bottom of the hill beside Safeway, said Tony Deplata with Bowman Consulting.

Phase two of the project will include a complete resurfacing of the road near its intersection with U.S. Highway 40, some widening and the installation of a pedestrian path from Safeway to Cranmer Avenue, Deplata said.

Currently, the county has not decided on a design for the pedestrian path, he said.

Phase one is scheduled to last until Aug. 15, while phase two should be completed by Oct. 15.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane for uphill traffic only during weekdays, Deplata said. Downhill traffic is being rerouted to County Road 8.

Two-way traffic will be allowed on weekends and holidays.
