Inmate dies at Larimer County jail

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) – Larimer County authorities say a 53-year-old inmate died one day after being booked into jail.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports that the man was in cardiac arrest when deputies were doing a scheduled check at the Larimer County jail Thursday morning. The sheriff’s office says the man was a transient and his name is not being released until his relatives are notified.

Sheriff’s office spokesman John Schulz says officers did not use stun guns, pepper spray or any other weapons when they arrested him Wednesday. The sheriff’s office says an autopsy showed no signs of trauma and officials are waiting for toxicology results.

Authorities say the man was being investigated for manslaughter and domestic violence.
