A bizarre discovery took place on the town beach in Grand Lake on Saturday, June 22. A boy from Fort Morgan, Colo., claimed to have found a dead octopus washed up on shore of the town beach. Grand Lake firefighters, a Parks and Wildlife officer and a sheriff’s deputy were on scene to assess and dispose of the creature. “That’s a good one,” said Colorado Parks and Wildlife Aquatic Biologist Jon Ewert, on Monday. “Obviously somebody put it there,” saying octopus being salt-water creatures would not survive the fresh-water high-mountain lake.
