Turkey hunters for the taking

On Friday, April 26, the Grand County Sheriff’s office received a report of fraud. The reporting party and several of his friends had paid for a turkey hunt in Nebraska and the outfitter, who they had sent checks to at a Granby post office box, never showed up.



A trailer home trashed

A hit and run accident was reported in the afternoon of Friday, April 26. A man allegedly hit a mobile home, then took off on foot. The man was later apprehended and arrested on a felony warrant.

Sheriff’s Office received a report last Friday of an ongoing problem with vehicles allegedly drag racing on County Road 224 north of the Kremmling landfill.

An echoing ‘Boom!’

A trucker reported he heard a loud explosion and witnessed a plume of smoke across from the state highway shops near Kremmling last Saturday night. A Kremmling police officer investigated and reported a party “setting off his cannon at the base of the cliffs.” Police ascertained there was no crime.

Helping eagles fly

A CDOT employee reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in a field along Highway 40 on Tuesday, April 30, and notified authorities. It was later discovered that a female was “just out trying to help an injured eagle in the field.”
