Jeanette Humphrey Akolt

Jeanette Humphrey Akolt, 91, of Denver, died on Jan. 31, 2009, from complications associated with pneumonia.

She was born to Matilda and Ray Humphrey on Aug. 8, 1917, in Denver.

Jeanette was a descendent of a pioneer family that operated businesses in Grand Lake since 1924. After her mother’s death in 1972, Jeanette owned and operated Humphrey’s store in Grand Lake until she leased the building in 1998. She still enjoyed coming to Grand Lake every summer from her home in Denver.

She was a member of the Grand Lake Yacht Club and Denver Country Club.

Her husband, John P. Akolt Jr., preceded her in death.

She is survived by a sons, John P. Akolt III, two daughters, Janet Daily and Jerri Tucker, and grandchildren John C. Akolt, Brett Daily and Jesse Tucker.

Memorial services will take place in Grand Lake this summer.
