John Fielder presents ‘Ranches of Colorado’ slide presentation
November 2, 2009
Renowned nature photographer John Fielder will present a free slide presentation of his newly released book “Ranches of Colorado,” from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Middle Park High School in Granby.
Fielder is visiting 25 Colorado communities this fall to introduce his new book and continue his longtime support of efforts to protect the state’s open space and wildlands. The Grand County event is hosted by Middle Park Land Trust.
From 6-7 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and purchase an assortment of Fielder products, including “Ranches of Colorado” and “Colorado 1870-2000,” and his 2010 calendars.
At 7 p.m., Fielder will show more than 100 photographs from the 50 Colorado ranches he visited and describe his experiences working with the remarkable ranchers whose stories make up the book. His work tells of self-sufficiency, determination, independence and an abiding reverence for the land, along with a lifestyle that is fast disappearing. He will discuss the struggles ranchers face, from taxes to development, along with the inspiring way people are coming together to protect this heritage.
Following his presentation, Fielder will be available to sign purchased books.
