Jury finds Schoen not guilty
HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS – A Grand County jury found former Granby resident Kristen Schoen not guilty of accidentally killing her boyfriend with a shotgun in Granby last year.
The jury arrived at its decision around 2 p.m. on Friday, having deliberated for one hour on Thursday, July 21, and most of the day Friday.
Schoen, 25 years-old at the time of the incident, was being tried for manslaughter and a lesser reckless endangerment charge for allegedly having pulled the trigger that killed her boyfriend Michael Thomas, at their residence the evening after an August day of drinking.
The jury found Schoen not guilty on both charges.
