Kenn and Muriel Johnson named Grand Lake Citizens of Year

GRAND LAKE — Kenn and Muriel Johnson have been selected as the 2014 Grand Lake Citizens of the Year.

The Citizen of the Year Award recognizes local Grand Lake citizens whose actions have contributed to the quality of life and sense of civic pride in the community. An independent committee of previous recipients selects the winners of the award and the Rotary Club of Grand Lake sponsors the selection process and awards banquet.

The Johnsons were nominated for the award by Kathy Means.

Kenn and Muriel are long-time volunteers at Rocky Mountain National Park. They also routinely volunteer at the library, Habitat for Humanity, the Kaufman House and the Grand Lake Historical Society. They were instrumental in organizing the Sons of Norway Lodge and both work with the Ski for Light program at Snow Mountain Ranch.

Muriel is a past president of the Grand Lake Women’s Club.

An awards banquet honoring the Johnsons is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, 6 p.m. at the Lakeside Event Center. For more information, contact Larry Bacon, 970-531-5795.
