King of the Rockies bike race is Saturday
Motorists should expect delays and temporary closures on County Roads 50 and 50S between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Aug. 28, as the King of the Rockies bicycle race takes place.
The last race of the summer with the Epic Singletrack Race Series, the King of the Rockies was once rated as one of the five best mountain bike race courses in the world by VeloNews. The event starts outside of Fraser and finishes at the base of Winter Park Resort.
At 26 miles, it is the longest race of the series. The race is open to everyone, with four categories of racing and no memberships required. Each racer receives post-race refreshments, and a chance to win raffle prizes.
Check in starts at 8 a.m. and the race begins promptly at 10 a.m.
