Kremmling sales tax revenues slip in April

Kremmling sales tax revenues slid slightly in April after rebounding the previous month.April’s collections of $41,103 were down about 5.74 percent from the $43,607 collected in April 2008.Revenues had fallen 9 percent and 9.49 percent compared with January and February 2008, respectively, before they increased by less than 1 percent in March.Town officials, who point out that the 2008 sales tax revenues were the most the town has ever collected, remain optimistic.”I anticipate that summer will look good,” said Town Manager Ted Soltis.He pointed out that hundreds of workers are filling motel rooms in town for a three-month railroad project. In the past he has indicated that 2009 in general collections are expected to go up because of the opening late last year of the 46-room Allington Inn & Suites.
