Kremmling Ski Joring event canceled

A skijoring event scheduled for Kremmling this weekend has been canceled after event organizers struggled with issues related to competitors and sponsorships.

“I feel very strongly that this year we do not have what it takes, meaning the resources, to put on an event that would be at the level that I or my organization, Skijor USA, would like to see it,” stated Loren Zhimanskova, chair of Skijor USA, in a letter to the community. “The conditions can be managed and safely, so we believe, but what we are lacking is competitors and sponsorships.”

The skijoring event, called Kremmling Ski Joring, was meant to bring the sport of skijoring back to Kremmilng this year with a competitive race event. Kremmling Ski Joring was once a winter fixture in the community but according to information from the Kremmling Area Chamber of Commerce the event has not taken place since the 1990s.

Zhimanskova’s letter notes that Skijor USA still hopes to make Kremmling part of its annual circuit of winter skijoring races starting in 2020.
