The event at Sunspot at Winter Park Resort on Saturday night, February 4, hosted 160 guests, raising money for Northwest Rocky Mountain (NWRM) CASA.
CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are volunteers who are appointed by the judge and trained to advocate for abused and neglected children. The organization believes that all children have the right to grow up in a safe and permanent home. CASA volunteers are a child’s voice in court, provide the judge with information pertaining to the child and family and help assure the children’s best interests are being addressed. Once they are trained, CASA volunteers are assigned to a case by a court order and work with the children until the court case is closed, lasting on average, 12-18 months.
