Lady Panthers fall to Liberty Common, 3-1

The Middle Park Panthers Girl’s Soccer Team fell to the Liberty Common Eagles in their second game of the season this weekend, 3-1. The Panthers move to 1-1 on the year ahead of a mid-week matchup with the SkyView Academy Hawks.

The Panthers were unable to recreate their convincing 6-0 opening day win against the Lotus Meteors last week, as they struggled to get the offense off the ground. Junior Ellie Mackendrick notched her second goal of the season, and lone goal of the game, on an assist from Junior Taylor Ehlert.

Freshman Mia Rimmer got the start in goal, making seven saves and allowing three goals.

The Panthers struggled to contain Liberty Common’s star Senior Eve Norman, who kicked off her season with a hat trick a year after averaging more than 1.6 goals-per-game for the Eagles.

Up next for Middle Park is a Wednesday afternoon away game at SkyView Academy. The Hawks are 1-1 and coming off a rough 5-1 defeat to the Basalt Longhorns, but beat the Panthers 2-0 in their only matchup last season.

Following the SkyView game the Panthers will return to Middle Park for their home opener against the Arrupe Jesuit Generals, and will enjoy a four-game home stand through the end of March and into April.
