Lady Panthers push winning streak to five

The Lady Panthers continued to roll on Tuesday, defeating the Clear Creek Golddiggers, 10-2. The victory gave Middle Park their fifth straight win, and moved their record to 7-4 on the year.

Sophomore Lela Myers got the start at goalie, allowing one goal and making three saves over 50 minutes. Junior Jordan Emery allowed one goal and made four saves over 30 minutes.

The real story of this game was offense, however, as Middle Park recorded double-digit goals for the third time in their last five games. Junior Taylor Ehlert led the charge with four goals on the game to give her a team-leading 16 on the season. Junior Lisa Mcclain scored two goals to go along with two assists. Junior Ellie Mackendrick recorded a goal and two assists, Junior Caitlin Davis had a goal and assist, and Senior Emily Jensen had three assists.

After starting the season slow, the Panthers have been absolutely dominant of late. During the Panthers’ winning streak, they’re averaging nine goals a game, outscoring opponents 45-5 during that stretch.

The streak also has Middle Park set up nicely in league standings, where they’re currently sitting in second place behind the 9-3 DSST: Stapleton Knights.

The Panthers were scheduled to play KIPP Denver Collegiate on Wednesday, though the game was cancelled due to poor field conditions. The game is expected to be made up on April 30. Up next for the Panthers is a tough home game against the 10-2 St. Mary’s Pirates. The Pirates are riding high on an eight game winning streak, and have only allowed six goals the entire season.
