Largest statewide single-day giving event this Tuesday
This Tuesday millions of dollars will be donated to nonprofits around Colorado on one of the biggest single-day giving movements in the country.
Colorado Gives Day, on Dec. 4 this year, has encouraged residents to donate to local nonprofits and support community efforts since 2010. Grand County Gives, the regional champion for the movement, partners with county nonprofits to raise money on the day.
Interested patrons can use the Colorado Gives website to donate to 22 Grand County nonprofits, including Grand Beginnings, the Colorado Headwaters Land Trust, the Grand County Historical Association and the Grand County Rural Health Network. Donations can also be made directly to the nonprofit.
Last year, Grand County Gives raised almost $700,000 for local nonprofits and raised over $500,000 in 2016.
Colorado Gives also features a $1 million incentive program, where every nonprofit that receives a donation through the website gets a portion of the fund, based on its percentage of the total amount raised.
The Grand Foundation and other partnering nonprofits commenced the fundraising with a kickoff rally on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27. The rally started in Kremmling and stopped in Hot Sulphur Springs, Grand Lake, Granby, Fraser and Winter Park.
