Larimer County investigates meningitis death

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) – Authorities in Larimer County are investigating several cases of meningitis, including one that led to the death of a 29-year-old Fort Collins man.

County health officials plan to speak about the investigation at a press conference Thursday afternoon.

There have been three confirmed cases of bacterial meningitis in the county. A suspected fourth case is still being analyzed.

The health department is investigating whether there are connections among any of the cases.

The family of the man who died – Brian Wormus – said health officials told them they believe he contracted the bacteria through an adult hockey league he played in.
