A Candidates Debate was held at Middle Park High School in Granby on Wednesday evening Oct. 19. The debate featured candidates Andy Miller, Democrat, and Rich Ciminio, Republican, both of whom are running for Grand County Commissioner for District 1, encompassing the southeastern portion of Grand County including Winter Park and Fraser. Neither Ciminio nor Miller are currently on the Board of County Commissioners and the winner of their Nov. contest will replace current Commissioner Jane Tollett.

Also attending the debate were two candidates running for Colorado State Senate for Senate District 8. Randy Baumgardner, the Republican incumbent, and Emily Tracy, the Democratic challenger.

The debate Wednesday night also featured four senior students from Middle Park; Kadin Cathey, Jene Hansen, Claire Luque and Nellie Clancy. The students prepared and posed questions to the candidates for the debate. The students were pulled from Jack Dugwyler’s senior government class and volunteered for the role of debate moderators.
