Letter: As justice system does its work, there are ways to heal
To the Editor:
Like so many in our county who were affected by the Fourth of July tragedy, I have written and spoken of the event often over the past two weeks. I think of the Westley family and the Ackermans every day. As witnessed in the newspaper and other sources this week, emotions are running high.
We will have to wait and let the justice system do its work. In the meantime, we all can reach out to the two families and help where we can.
If you, too, have been thinking of the Westleys and their terrible loss, you need to know that their community has set up a fund to assist them. Please consider making a donation to the following:
The Westley Family Fund, The Bank of Estes Park (formerly First National Bank), P.O. Box 1706, Estes Park, CO 80517.
We can begin the healing of this horrific event, and we can be sensitive to the pain of all of the victims. I really think that’s an important first step for now.
