To the Editor:

Is corporate greed ruining ‘Colorado’s Favorite Ski Resort?’ In late fall Intrawest installed pay parking lots at the Vintage, Lot B, and Lot C at Winter Park after most skiers had purchased their season passes. There are still some free parking lots. North Bench, the only close-in parking lot fills up early with employees. Blue Spruce, Lone Tree, and the Bus Barn lots are farther out and not serviced by bus during the week. Lots F and G are serviced by a shuttle, but are further out. If one misses the shuttle it could be a long wait on a cold, windy, snowy day. The pay lots should be free during the week. Many Front Range midweek skiers, retirees, SkiMeisters, and NSCD volunteer instructors used the big Vintage parking lot during the week. The addition of pay parking here is turning skiers away from Winter Park during the week, and the Vintage lot sits mostly empty. I have heard several people say that they would not renew their pass next year. They would rather go to Loveland, A-Basin, or Copper where they are treated better. If Intrawest wants to keep the mid-week skiers they should make the lots free during the week. If they are so greedy that they need to gouge their customers some more, let the lots be pay lots on the weekends and holidays. After all, it is the mid-week skiers that keep the area going during the week.
