Letter: Ehrlich, Honor the concept, ‘We the People’
Honor the concept, ‘We the People’
Ken Fucik’s provocative letter describing his love for Grand Lake and his belief in community stirred me. I join him in his feelings. I respect, nay, I revere our Constitution and the work and pain that our founders went through to achieve it. They created a towering template for democracy. And I agree that the monument they built spoke for and to everyone in our new nation, not just for discrete groups within it. Celebrating it is good; it can remind us of our obligations to each other and the beauty and strength of our togetherness. Putting on an event like Constitution Week requires a lot of work, and I think must include the vision Fucik describes: honoring the basic concept of “We the People”.
