The EGMS eighth-graders held a service project to support the Shining Stars Foundation on Saturday, May 14 in Grand Lake. The event included Dragon Boat Races Provided by DRACO. Participants raced from two different docks on the water once and back. Food was provided from a variety of different venders. Locals enjoyed live music from a local band lead by Scotty Hicks. The event raised over $5,000. We would like to give a special thanks to all of our boat sponsors: Conroy Excavating, The Ditch on 40, Azteca Mexican Restaurant, Granby Dental, Granby Barn Store, Mountain Cleaners, Car Quest, Hernando’s Pizza and Pub, Casals Financial, Destinations West, Mountain Parks Electric, Year Round Cleaning, Alpine Lumber, Terr & Donald Woodin, Acord Asphalt, Alternative Heating/Mobile Massage. Restaurant sponsors: Grand Pizza, Sloopy’s Grill , Sagebrush Barbecue, Smokin’ Moe’s barbecue. Thank you for feeding 300 people at the event! Thank you Scott Munn and the Grand Lake Yacht Club. Special thanks to Michael Boyd, the DRACO president and Captain/Head Coach of the Dragon Boat Race on Grand Lake for providing the boats, life jackets, paddles, safety instructions, steering, and drums for a fun and safe event. Thank you to the Fire Dept., EMS, and the Grand County Sheriff’s Office for help keeping the event safe and fun.
