To the Editor:

I have a question for the Town of Grand Lake, where I live and chose to live after driving with my husband more than halfway across the country to get here. With the new “signage” posted before and heading into the town… What does the town mean by “open year-round,” considering that during the week (mainly Sunday through Thursday), many shops are closed the majority of the time with only a few places to eat in town? I guess to many, wouldn’t year-round mean open every day of the week with hours that accommodate tourism, which I thought was the purpose of generating revenue for the town in general? I live here year-round, but I work weekends, which leaves me only the week to do any shopping in town. I’m continuously let down because many of the places to shop are closed. Not all tourists like to visit the town during the weekend. Many wish to avoid mass amounts of people, so they are also let down to see that they have few places to truly shop for goodies to take back home. That leads them to tell their friends and family about the misleading information provided by the sign. Wouldn’t you call the entryway rather misleading? More like false advertising to me.
