Letter: Gingery, Thank you for the success of Knight in Shining Armor Dragon Boat races
Letter of Thanks to Abby Loberg and Eighth-Grade Students,
The Shining Stars Foundation wants to thank the eighth-grade Social Studies teacher, Abby Loberg, and her students for organizing and hosting the “Knight in Shining Armor Dragon Boat Races for Shining Stars” service learning project for the Shining Stars Foundation. The event was a tremendous success and raised over $5,000 for the Foundation. Everyone had a great time despite the weather that caused white caps on Grand Lake and almost prevented the races from happening. The weather miraculously cleared and the races proceeded almost on time along with fantastic live music by Scotty Hicks, Robbie Gonzales, and Steve Di Sciullo. A big thank you to some of the Shining Stars Foundation’s favorite restaurants who donated the delicious food – Smokin’ Moe’s, Sagebrush BBQ and Grill, Sloopy’s Grill, and Grand Pizza. Teams from businesses and individuals all over the county gave generously to support the Shining Stars.
The eighth-graders all had assigned duties and some even joined their families in a boat race on the Lake. The organization, helpfulness, polite manners, and enthusiasm were something to behold from the 90 Eighth-Graders. The experience was truly wonderful for all of us! Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event so unique and successful. The Shining Stars Foundation is forever grateful!

Thank you to Jackie Wright and Mountain Life Fitness,
Once again we want to thank Jackie Wright and her fantastic team at Mountain Life Fitness in Granby for hosting a Spin-a-thon on Saturday, June 11 to benefit the Shining Stars Foundation which provides hope for children with cancer or a life-threatening disease and their families. Fourteen enthusiastic riders and many generous members and friends who couldn’t participate donated to this worthy cause.
The Shining Stars Foundation is honored to be part of Grand County and its generous citizens including the members from Mountain Life Fitness and their friends. It was great to see many of the first-timers from last year return this year to participate in Jackie’s exciting spinning classes. Many thanks to Jackie, her wonderful employees and all of the bighearted donors. Please know that ninety-five cents of every dollar we spend goes directly to the children’s programs.

Thank you for City Market employees and Mary Ann Kerstiens,
Hearing your license number over the P.A system at the store is never good. At the service desk at City Market I was told one of my Beagles had jumped out of a partially opened window! For six hours the employees helped me search for my little man. I would like to thank all of you and in particular the guy getting gas at the City Market gas pumps, Mary Ann from Grand County Animal Control for helping me find Bodie the Beagle! I had six hours of heartbreak and he had six hours of adventure! Thanks so much for your help!
Thank you for making the yard sale successful,
Over the weekend Grand County Builders Association hosted our Second Annual Building Supply Yard Sale. Grand County Builders Association is an advocate for the building industry. We are a collective voice to be heard in the political arena, a voice in the environmental area and most importantly, a voice in our community. Our goal with this event was to raise enough money to help support our local organization with education, training and programs that support our mission. The yard sale raised $3030.18; all the proceeds that were made will help the Grand County Builders Association with our education goals through the year.
Over the last two months we have been collecting donated new building supplies to support our yard sale. I wanted to personally thank everyone that made our yard sale successful. Alpine Lumber in Granby was generous to allow us to use their space to hold the yard sale, thank you to all of your employees who helped our customers load material and volunteered. Millers Storage of Tabernash for your assistance of the storage container, The Trash Company of Granby for your donation of the trash bin that we used, Rocky Mountain Spray Foam of Tabernash for being the Food Sponsor and providing breakfast for all of our volunteers as well as the lunch items. Maple Street Builders of Hot Sulphur Springs & Mountain Top Builders of Tabernash for providing coffee for all of our volunteers. Thank you to the Grand County Builders Association Board and current members, your continued support and help of this event made it go smoothly and successful. Also want to thank everyone who donated items over the last few months, we truly appreciate your support. I am truly honored that we live in such a caring supporting community. It is such an inspiration to see how Grand County helps out our neighbors and comes together to support nonprofit organizations. Thank you again to everyone who stopped in on Saturday and supported us. We look forward to holding this event again in 2017 and if you have any questions please give me a call or send me an email.
