Letter: Grand Gala event raises $150K

To the Editor:

The 13th Annual Grand Gala, held April 26, took a new approach to the venue and it proved a success. As many as 350 guests moved throughout the New High Lonesome Lodge at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa and helped to raise nearly $150,000.

The new venue gave the perfect touch for the annual black tie fundraiser. Guests were tempted with silent auction items, live music and delicious dining.

Funds raised will be used to improve the quality of life for residents and guests in Grand County. Proceeds directly benefit Grand County nonprofits through Grand Foundation grants and programs. Each year the Grand Gala Committee chooses secondary beneficiaries to receive grants from the Grand Gala funds raised. This year, Headwaters Trails Alliance and Grand Angels of Grand Lake were the chosen recipients.

The Grand Gala Committee also awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Grand County. Students who exemplify outstanding community spirit, a strong sense of volunteerism and philanthropy are chosen to receive a Grand Gala Scholarship.

The Grand Foundation and Gala Committee owe a debt of gratitude to the sponsors, donors, volunteers and owners and staff of Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa, who help direct the flow and success of this event each year. Without their support and dedication this event would not be possible. Local support for the nonprofit community was evident this year, Thank You to everyone who took part in the event.
