Letter: Grand Lake Fire is second to none
To the Editor:
I just retired the first of this year as a volunteer firefighter, serving slightly over six years and can say without equivocation that Grand Lake Fire is a premier fire fighting organization. It is well-staffed with extremely knowledgeable and aggressive full-time firefighters and equally knowledgeable and devoted volunteers, led by a very dedicated experienced chief.
After reading several of the opinions offered in Sky-Hi News relative to the “Good Old Boy’s Club” and “Bobbling Heads in the rear window,” it struck me as somewhat of a personal vendetta against Chief Long and the board. Obviously, the term limit election has become a source of contention for some, and they certainly have made their points clearly known, which they have every right to do. It appears as Chief Long has fielded all these contentious issues and has responded at length in his column in the Jan. 29 Sky-Hi News issue. I can assure everyone that the chief, and board, will continue to make certain that this fire department performs in the outstanding manner expected and conform to the community’s expectations in matters pertaining to Grand Lake Fire Protection District elections.
I was privileged to have served under the superb leadership of Chief Mike Long and alongside a super band of aggressive and motivated firefighters at the Grand Lake Fire Protection District.
